The Eastern Washington University volleyball team defeated Montana State, 30-23, 30-20, 30-24, Thursday (Nov. 9) at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash.
With the win, the Eagles (17-8, 9-6) are now tied with Montana for third place in the Big Sky Conference. Therefore, the winner of the Eagles' season finale with Montana Saturday night will finish in third place and be the third seed in the BSC Tournament. Sacramento State has clinched the No. 1 seed and the hosting of the tournament, which will take place from Nov. 16-18.
Addie Webster recorded her tenth straight double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs. Chrystal Johnson finished with 12 kills, and Brittney Page added 10. Mandy Daniels had a match-high 21 digs, and Amanda Yausie had a match-high of 35 assists.
Eastern finished with a hitting percentage of .252 for the match and held Montana State to a .107 clip. Both teams finished with six blocks each.
The Eagles will host the University of Montana Grizzles (12-13, 9-6) Saturday (Nov. 11) at Reese Court for its final regular-season match of the 2006 season. The match will start at 8:05 p.m. Eastern will honor its five seniors before the match for senior night. The Eagles defeated Montana, 3-0, in its first meeting earlier this season.
