New Athletic Training Suite Officially Opens
The Eastern Washington University athletic department, in partnership with the University, is excited to announce the opening of a new athletic training suite on campus inside The Pavilion and Albers Court.
Â
Eastern Washington was able to secure funding ($4.9m) for this important project in the Capital budget of the 2019 legislative session.
Â
The training suite is nearly three times the space of the former athletic training room. It now includes expanded space for athletic training students and two classrooms for Eastern Washington's Wellness and Movement Science (WAMS) programs. The classroom has instruction and lab space, and room for CPR certifications. Additional office space was also added.
Â
This now allows for the physical therapy, athletic training, WAMS students and EWU student-athletes and staff to now have adequate space in the underutilized Albers Court area.
Â
The multi-person project was put into place in 2018 and took just under a year to complete once construction began, officially opening on the first day of Eastern Washington's 2022 Spring quarter.
Â
Highlights include 16 training tables (previously seven), large above-ground pools that sit 10-15 persons at a time, an anti-gravity treadmill, x-ray capabilities and other medical modules. An outdoor turf space was also added.
