Riding a four-game winning streak, the Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team heads back out on the road to play Sacramento State on Saturday (Feb. 4) at 2 p.m. in Sacramento, Calif. With a win Saturday at The Nest, the Eagles would catch league-leading Idaho State in the Big Sky standings. The Bengals would still have a slightly better percentage at 8-1, but the teams would be essentially even, as Eastern would improve to 9-2.
In the midst of winning six of seven Big Sky Conference games over the last month, the Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team has also been active off the court with a variety of community service projects. Among its many initiatives, the Eagles have teamed up with the Spokane Guilds' School and Neuromuscular Center to help promote the organization's annual "Kids for Kids" Penny Drive.
After winning three-straight games on the road, the Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team returned home to pick up one more, as it downed Northern Arizona, 84-58, on Thursday (Feb. 2) at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash. The win Thursday, coupled with Idaho State’s overtime loss at home to Montana State, moves the Eagles within a half game of the league-leading Bengals.
It may seem like a gimme, but it is common knowledge that such a thing doesn’t really exist in the Big Sky Conference. This week, the Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team will play two teams that it handled quite easily in the first meetings of the 2011-12 Big Sky season.
